    And it’s annoying because…??
    a. They are older than u and still calling u chechi?
    b. They are younger than u and calling u chechi?
    c. Something else?

I was actually taking a dig at your Chettas (and ther wives), since the age difference between them and their wives must be considerable 🙂

          • January 4, 2010 at 12:23 pm

Ah I wish it was that MUCH difference! then i would feel good 🙂 this is more like 7-8 years difference 🙂

Yes, I expected 8-10 ….. 7-8 means your Chettas are only slightly older than you. Anyway, here’s wishing a happy and healthy 2010 to all of you 🙂

same here, luckily some of them are born and brought up outside Kerala, so I dont call them Chetta… So we end up addressing each other with our first names, as we speak in English.

Thats cool! I come from a very conservative family – so addressing each other by our first names is a No No 🙂

dont want to bring this sensitive topic..but imagine a time when children will call you * horror of all horrors* aunty! But then since you are a single child..I guess you can rest in peace.
I once glared at a kid who called me aunty and she completly turned into a salt statue.Satyam.

Ummmm… I have reached that stage long time back 🙂 My eldest cousin bro is over 55 and he has a daughter who is 23! thankfully she has the sense of calling me chechi on the rare ocassions we meet. Otherwise, I would have to ask you for your spell! 😀

Being only child doesnt prevent u from being called ‘aunty’. Remember ,i was once called ‘aunty’ by a college going girl i met in train. All my cousin’s kids call me aunty .

All my friends’ kids call me aunty! Sigh!!! Inspite of threating so called friends with dire consequences, they train their kids to call me Aunty. 🙂
